Designs for Five City Stadiums Complete

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Addis Ababa City Administration Sport Commission received final designs for the five zonal stadiums to be built by 2015.
Ultimate Plan Plc, which won the contract four months ago, has designed two 30,000-seat capacity and three 25,000-seat capacity stadiums, for a total fee of 1.8 million Br.
The Commission will pick contractors in a month’s time, according to Daniel Darge, Deputy Commissioner and head of sport promotion and development. The City Administration has released 100 million Br to cover the construction costs for the current fiscal year.

The construction of the stadiums was decided during the discussion for the 2012/13 budget, Daniel said.
The stadiums will be in; Bole district, at CMC; Nefa Silk Lafto District, at Lafto; Gulele District, in Wereda 8, around Semen Hotel; Yeka District, at Ferensai Legasion; and Arada District, at Bell Air. The CMC and
Lafto stadiums will have a seating capacity of 30,000, in an area of 113,000sqm, whilst the rest will have 25,000 seats in just 31,000sqm.
The Commission has acquired a minimum of 31,000sqm of land from each district for the construction of the stadiums, according to Daniel.
The five districts will not be the only ones getting stadiums. The remaining five districts in the city have already asked for land and designs will be drawn up for the stadiums next year, after the budget is approved by the City Administration.
Ultimate Plan Plc is responsible for the designs of Abebech building, where Zemen Bank is housed, Getu Commercial Centre, and Debre Tabor University, as well as various branches of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Awash International Bank and Dashen Bank. It also designed a 4,000-seat conference hall for Haramaya University.
Ultimate Plan Plc is a class I ISO 9001 certified consultancy company, accredited by the Ethiopian National Accreditation Office, in 2008. It has a registered capital of six million Birr.
