Sheraton Addis to Host African Mosaique Fashion Show 2013


The Sheraton Addis is set to host the 2013 first edition of African Mosaique, biennial fashion and cultural galaa that aims to promote and celebrate African fashion. The platform that is also expected to highlight 3 renowned African designers from South Africa Naked Ape by Shaldon Kopman and Wetive Nkosi, and from Mozambique Taibo Bacar, will take place this week on January 4, 2013.

According to the organizers, all proceeds will benefit ECF Children’s Fund (formerly The Ethiopian Children’s Fund, ECF). In keeping with the founding philosophy of African Mosaique, 6 established and emerging Ethiopian designers will also share this platform to showcase elements ranging from the festive to the ceremonial to the spectacular and classical. These designers are Mafi, Mela, MESHKI Ethiopia, Urban Roots Eco Couture, YeFikir Design and Yohannes Sisters’ Couture (full designers profile attached).

This year’s celebrity models include Huguette Marara (Rwanda), Percina Manjate (Mozambique), Letshego Melesi and Priyeshka Lutchman both from South Africa, as well as 20 professional models from Addis.

African Mosaique fashion and cultural Gala is one of the most eagerly anticipated event on the Addis Ababa Social Calendar. In the past 13 years, over 150 designers and international models have graced the podium to showcase some of the continents leading designers and talent. Over 500 guests, from the international and business community, as well as diplomatic and other high official guests have been a permanent presence at African Mosaique events.
