The Management Contract with France Telecom concluded


The France Telecom's management contract, which had prevailed for the past two and half years, was concluded based on the original contract agreement. Following the conclusion of the management contract, Ethiopian managers of ethio telecom have taken over the management positions. This takeover of the management position by Ethiopian managers has been executed as per the final succession plan stated in the management contract.

It is to be recalled that the management contract with France Telecom (FT) was carried out to have a knowledge transfer geared towards creating a world-class telecom service provider by utilizing the company¡¯s workforce and other resources.

The current existing relations of ethio telecom with France Telecom would be in the form of a partnership and support framework agreement by Ethio telecom and France Telecom Company.

The partnership and support framework agreement/contract, which was signed on December 13, 2012, would be in the form of the Master Framework Agreement and it is managed under the auspices of the ethio telecom Board of Directors. The framework agreement extends more than one year, while other engagements such as expertise in key areas and con
sultancy would be from 6 to 12 months. Support to a strategic program would also take one year.

The major areas of the partnership with France Telecom include Expertise in Key Areas and Management Consultancy and FT Orange Partnership.

The Expertise in Key Areas and Management Consultancy that would last for the maximum of Six Months include Chief Executive Officer and Transformation and Efficiency Chief Officer with the rank of Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

Through the partnership France Telecom would also support ethio telecom for Telecom Expansion Program such as in network design, architecture, technology selection negotiation and related technical areas.

In the previous years, although the focus had been given to both the service coverage and service quality issues,  a better result was attained in service coverage and penetration. Thus, since the quality has not reached to a level that satisfies the customers, the company will do its best to improve this situation.

In its commitment to attain quality in all the matters of telecommunications service in the country, ethio telecom has embarked up on several activities which are believed to curb the current quality related issues in the country.  Among these activities are the programs that the company has launched recently which is called ''Together towards Quality''  under which several concrete projects are being implemented. In addition, the company has established quality circles in its working divisions as well as it is engaged in tasks related to network problem resolutions and other related issues.

Thus, to ensure Quality Telecom Service Ethio telecom will do its best in the continuing stage of the infrastructure development and service provisioning through ongoing network optimization and upgrading.
