Ethiopia: President Girma Meets With
Rotary International Members
President Girma
Woldegiorgis met a delegation from Rotary International from Canada and America
on Monday (October 21st).
The President in
particular thanked the members of the delegation for their participation in the
efforts to eliminate polio from Ethiopia, and for Rotary International's
contribution over the sixteen years. Dr. Tewodros Adhanom, Minister of Health,
noted that there had been no case of polio and no indications of the presence
of any polio virus in Ethiopia for the last four years. Ambassador Booth of the
United States said the activities of Rotary International members from North
America provided a solid foundation for existing people-to-people relations
between Ethiopia and the United States.
The results that
Ethiopia has registered in its efforts to control polio, HIV/AIDS and malaria
and other diseases and preventing their spread can be taken as an impressive
example for developing countries. http://allafrica.com/stories/201210230015.html
