Ethiopian Airlines Winds African Airline of the Year Award



Ethiopian Airlines has been recognized as the ‘African Airline of the Year’ by the African Travel Quarterly magazine it announced.
The airline received the award at an event held in Lagos, Nigeria during the Akwaaba: African Travel Market Exhibition.

Ethiopian Airlines was recognized for the excellence of its service and its pioneering acts in the aviation industry in Africa as evidenced by its introduction of the continents first 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The airline has managed to bridge the continent and made Africa proud in the past year through its efforts to open new routes and facilitating integration regionally and continentally according to the organizers of the award ceremony.

The partnership between Ethiopian and ASKY has enabled it to penetrate the West African air travel market in a significant and positive manner it was said.  

Captain Desta Zeru, Vice-President of Flight Operations for Ethiopian Airlines was awarded the ‘African Legend of Travel’ award at the same time. The Captain was recognized for being the first African pilot of the Dreamliner flying it on China to Addis Ababa route of the aircraft’s promotional world tour: the ‘Dream Tour.’

Both awards are a testament of the airlines continued prominence in the sector of aviation technology on the African continent and its commitment to bringing the continent closer together while connecting it to the rest of the world said Tewolde Gebremaraim, Chief Executive of Ethiopian Airlines.

The award is an encouragement motivating the airline to work harder to ensure better quality of service its valued customers he said.
